Vintage base ball club takes the sport to a simpler time

On Saturday you will get a chance to see what baseball would have looked like 150 years ago. It’s the last game of the season for the Continental Base Ball Club of Kalamazoo . The game starts at 4 p.m. at Flesher Field in Oshtemo. A vintage base ball team supported by Kalamazoo’s Historical Society.

A day at world's end

What would the end of the world look like? Writer Chris Killian of Kalamazoo may have seen it. While roaming the nation from coast to coast looking for the stories of ordinary Americans, he found Bombay Beach. He sends this audio postcard from the forlorn former resort town on the shore of southern California’s Salton Sea. Read more at his blog Types of America.

At first glance, Bombay Beach looks like a corpse that’s had its flesh ripped clean off, the skeleton left to bake and rot in the flaming desert sun.

Concert marks 85th year for Kalamazoo Civic

The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre is about to begin its 85th season. The milestone will be marked this weekend during the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo’s Concerts in the Park series. The concert is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 in Bronson Park.
