Drones to monitor crops in Hickory Corners

Michigan State University's first drone is a microdrone md4-1000, a four-rotor helicopter that measures just over a meter from rotor shaft to rotor shaft. It is equipped with a high-resolution radiometer, a thermal camera and a laser scanner that's capable of taking centimeter-precise measurements from the air.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The National Street Rod Association will host the 34 th annual Street Rod Nationals North Plus this weekend at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairground. The Sept. 13-15 event will feature more than 2,500 street rods, muscle cars, specialty cars, custom cars and trucks, according to the NSRA, making it the largest such event in the region.

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners had its first chance to review the 2014 budget Tuesday at its annual budget retreat. County administration is projecting an $83.2 million budget for 2014, about $400,000 more than the 2013 budget.

Army and Air Force cadets will be standing in a silent vigil, shifting out approximately every 30 minutes, until 4 p.m. at the flag pole in front of the Seibert Administration Building at the center of WMU's main campus to commemorate lives lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Saginaw City Manager retires will become Emergency Financial Manager in Flint

SAGINAW, MI - After seven years serving as Saginaw's city manager, it appears that Darnell Earley will soon be leaving to take a new job serving as Flint's emergency manager. Gov. Rick Snyder plans to announce Earley's appointment to replace current Emergency Manager Mike Brown during a press conference in Flint Wednesday morning.
