KALAMAZOO, MI -- Jennifer Barlament is going from the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra to one of the "Big Five." During an interview shortly after the executive director of the KSO announced she'd accepted the general manager position at the Cleveland Orchestra, Barlament praised the community and the KSO staff for putting her in position to make such a substantial career leap.

Several Southwest Michigan school districts running low on cash as school year starts

Snyder wants more Chinese tourism in Michigan

Organic Gyspy, other food trucks to expand

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation offered eight $10,000 grants to state mobile food owners who want to launch or expand their business.
LANSING - Eight food trucks throughout the state won a total of $77,775 in grants to either launch their business or expand it. The trucks are from East Lansing, Kalamazoo, Flint, Pontiac, Southfield, Traverse City and Marquette. They were chosen among 65 applications requesting $601,372.

WMU East Hall design meetings start in October

KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan University will hold its first public sessions on the redesign of East Hall Oct. 1, the university announced Friday. The university's birthplace is slated to be renovated and turned into the Western Michigan University Alumni Center, with work beginning in Spring 2014.
