University of Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman to retire next year

PORTAGE, MI -- The Portage Public Schools Board of Education has tentatively scheduled a special meeting for Monday, April 29, to decide whether to offer Greg Gray a contract as superintendent. But first, Gray is returning to Portage on Thursday, April 25, for another round of meetings and interviews.

Medical marijuana ordinance moves ahead in Zeeland Township

Zeeland Township's board of trustees have agreed to let a proposed medical marijuana ordinance move to a second reading. The ordinance would impose the following limits: Medical marijuana can only be grown inside a home, behind locked doors, and the space used cannot exceed 20 percent of the total living space.

PORTAGE, MI -- If he became superintendent of Portage Public Schools, Greg Gray said his first priority would be "rebuilding trust" between the district leadership and community residents. "You've had some challenges here in the past few years, some self-inflicted, some not," Gray told the board during a public interview Thursday evening.
