Western Michigan Women's Basketball wins at Toledo 60-59

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan junior Marquisha Harris scored a team-high 20 points and was the game-changer down the stretch as WMU defeated Toledo on the road Sunday, 60-59. It was WMU's first road win at Toledo since 2008 and with a 78-72 victory in Kalamazoo also this season, the Broncos (11-14, 7-7 MAC) posted their first sweep of the Rockets since 2006.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Temperatures in the low 30s may not be considered great swimming weather, but that didn't stop nearly 200 Polar Plunge participants from taking a soak Saturday. Plungers were required to raise at least $75 to participate with all event proceeds going to year-round sports training and athletic competition for 19,613 Special Olympics Michigan athletes.

Battle Creek Police Say Gang Suppression Effort Paying Dividends

A community response, not just from the police, has reduced crime rates in Battle Creek, new figures show. "Battle Creek's downward trends are above the curve," Deputy Police Chief Jim Saylor said. "We are traveling faster. Something is working." In figures released by the department several categories of crime have declined over the past eight years.
