Michigan Republicans leading money race

Kalamazoo city crews working to clear local streets

KALAMAZOO, MI -- City of Kalamazoo crews focused on clearing snow from major streets on Saturday and have been concentrating on local streets Sunday, according to a news release. On Monday, they will focus on plowing dead-end streets.

Battle Creek seeks new interim police chief

Battle Creek is looking for a new interim police chief. City officials said Friday that the current interim chief, Jim Saylor, is considering jobs in other cities.

Saylor is the department’s deputy chief and had been expected to fill in after long-time Battle Creek Police Chief Jackie Hampton retires. Battle Creek City Manager Ken Tsuchiyama says a new interim chief will be selected and that candidates for the post from inside and outside city government will be considered.

Pennfield superintendent will drop "interim" from title

Interim Pennfield Schools Superintendent Tim Everett will drop the "interim" from his title after he today accepted an offer to become the district's full-time chief executive. Everett will now enter contract negotiations with the district's Board of Education. The district's last superintendent, Ben Laser, made $136,605in annual salary when he left the district this summer.
