Lucas Moneypenny uses oil on canvas to illustrate the interaction of the physical and the spiritual world. The paintings include organic elements from nature collaged to construct an environment - a growing tree, moving water or changing light - all exist both independent of and in relationship to human influence. The patterns of color act as figurative elements generated from fabric. The figure provides a body language for a spiritual state. Mr. Moneypenny studied art and design at Grand Valley State University and has exhibited at Interlochen Center for the Arts where he is employed and other venues in southwest Michigan.
