Kalamazoo library to become a "Family Place"

The Kalamazoo Public Library’s main branch downtown is poised to become a “Family Place Library”. A renovation project that starts later this month will turn the library’s Children’s Room into a place where young children and their parents can learn together.

Final Portage Creek cleanup starts

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says it will start the last round of clean-up work on Portage Creek in Kalamazoo later this week. The EPA plans to remove about 4,000 cubic yards of sediment contaminated by toxic PCBs.

WMU picks new education dean

Western Michigan University will soon have a new dean at its College of Education and Human Development. He's Ming Li, who's currently the interim head of the Center for International Studies at Ohio University. Li will replace interim Western education dean Walter Burt. Li starts his new position in Kalamazoo September 1st. Besides education, Li is also involved in research on sports management and the financial side of athletics.
