The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has launched a new strategic plan for the next two years. It will focus on equity, education and engagement. The foundation's board approved the new vision in September.

SOUTH HAVEN, MI -- After believing Tuesday that the 2015 Waterfront Film Festival had been canceled, the head of the South Haven/Van Buren County Convention & Visitors Bureau now says she is optimistic about the festival's future. The visitors bureau, which is headed by Lisa Shanley, on Wednesday issued a statement that the festival, slated for June 11-14, had been canceled. Festival co-founder Hopwood DePree said that was incorrect.


Western Michigan's Women's Basketball team lost on Wednesday at Eastern Michigan, 74-65. The Broncos are currently the number seven seed for the Mid-American Conference Tournament which begins next week. 

Holland, Mich. The controversial religious sign that stood in an Ottawa County park for more than 40 years before it was removed last year is repaired and repainted, ready to be reinstalled. It just needs county board approval and some warm days to melt the snow. The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners could see proposed wording and a design for an informational kiosk by its March 24 meeting, according to Al Vanderberg, county administrator.

KALAMAZOO, MI - In the six months since he moved from Bangalore, India, to enroll at Kalamazoo College, Tanush Jagdish said he has found the campus to be one that is inclusive, a good learning environment for an international student. But Jagdish said that all changed for him late Tuesday as he learned of a racist, anti-Semitic Internet posting that included a threat to shoot faculty at the school.
