Bridge has taken a look at other states where test scores show high, or fast growing, student achievement.  

The City of Kalamazoo says it will help residents clean-up after recent storms with special brush pick-ups this month. The city's Department of Public Services says the pick-ups will start next Monday and run through the 26th.

The pick-ups will be in areas where the city hasn't picked up storm debris so far. According to a news release issued by the city, the three areas affected by the pick-ups next week are:

M43 to the south city limits from Drake Road to Oakland Drive

Former State Representative Lorence Wenke is running for office again, this time with a different political party.

The bronze, silver and gold medalists of last May's 2014 Stulberg International String Competition will visit west Michigan over the fall/winter season to perform with a variety of orchestras.

Executive director Margaret Hamilton and Cara Lieurance preview the upcoming appearances by 15 year-old Toronto violinist Emma Meinrenken (Stulberg silver medalist) in October; 15 year-old Massachussets cellist Zlatomir Fung (Stulberg gold medalist) in November; and 18 year-old Texas cellist Charles Seo (Stulberg bronze medalist) in February 2015.
