Mark Lundholm says he struggled with addiction for a long time, and in some ways he still does. But Lundholm has been sober for 25 years. 

The Kalamazoo Singers will get a head start on the holiday concert season this Sunday with a performance at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Kalamazoo. Cara Lieurance spoke to Rick Phelps, director of the Kalamazoo Singers, to find out more.

The Weavers Guild of Kalamazoo holds an annual sale with demonstrations each year at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center at the Fairgrounds. With free admittance, it begins Thursday afternoon, November 21st and runs for three days.

"Sean is an incredibly rhythmic player. He brings such a vitality, you couldn't miss it when he comes in. He's one of the best flute players of any age, that's playing anywhere in Ireland or America or anywhere else. He's absolutely fantastic," says fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada, talking about Sean Gavin.

When the City of Kalamazoo built its first wastewater treatment plant to handle the raw sewage that had previously been dumped directly into the Kalamazoo River, it used the simple process of allowing solid material settle to the bottom of collection tanks. But with residents and businesses using more chemicals these days, the process needed to clean up sewage water is much more complex. It is admittedly not something most people think about, or want to. But it is necessary to prevent pollution.
