"The Miracle Worker" Is A Timeless Classic Of Teaching Others And Overcoming Obstacles

Before she was known as an author, a humanitarian, a champion for women's rights, and advocate for the deaf and blind, Helen Keller was a bit of a tyrant.

She lost her vision and hearing she was two. This left her parents unable to effectively communicate with her and handle her constant outbursts. Following tip of telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, the Kellers visited the Perkins Institute of the Blind, where they found Anne Sullivan.

Kal Singers director previews 'A Fireside Valentine'

The members of the Kalamazoo Singers come from all walks of life, he says.

Kalamazoo Public Schools Announces Student TB Case

Kalamazoo Public Schools Superintendent Michael Rice speaks at a press conference Thursday about a KPS student with active TB.

About 300 students and staff from Kalamazoo Central High School can expect to undergo a skin test for tuberculosis next week. That’s because they might have been exposed to the disease by a student from Central who, Kalamazoo Public Schools confirmed today, has a case of active TB.

KPS learned about the case last Friday from a hospital treating the student, says Kalamazoo County Public Health Department Director  Linda Vail.
