Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer faces the strongest challenge in his 18 year stint. The state party will pick its chairman during a convention this weekend in Detroit. Democratic activist Lon Johnson is challenging Brewer to lead the Michigan Democratic Party.

Members of an Air National Guard unit in Battle Creek are back home after service in the skies over West Africa. Transport aircraft of the 217th Air Operations Group supported troops from France and several African countries fighting Islamic insurgents in the deserts of northern Mali.

Tokyo Quartet's Kikuei Ikeda: 'My life changed in 5 seconds'

Fontana Chamber Arts presents the Tokyo String Quartet on its farewell tour this Saturday in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Violinist Kikuei Ikeda joined the quartet in 1974, five years after it was formed. He says that his acceptance by phone was the most momentous 5 seconds of his life. Along with the opportunity to play at the highest level on world stages, the decision required him to leave Japan to live in the United States for four decades.
