WMU Room and Board Costs to Rise

Students at Western Michigan University will pay just under three percent more in the next academic year than this one for room and board. WMU’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2.95 percent increase for academic year 2014-2015 at their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon.

In a document included with the meeting packet, the board described the rise in cost as necessary to keep up with the university’s “operational” expenses, as well as “building infrastructure needs, debt service, student and University support, and competitiveness with other Universities.”

Running to Help Wounded Warriors

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have affected thousands of veterans. Many must cope with severe physical injuries while others grapple with emotional and psychological scars. This weekend an event at Western Michigan University will raise money for a national organization dedicated to helping them. The 5K run and walk for the Wounded Warrior Project is sponsored by the university’s Joint ROTC Community Outreach Corps.
