KVCC part-time faculty drop labor complaint

The union representing part-time instructors at Kalamazoo Valley Community College says it is dropping an unfair labor practice complaint against the school. The KVCC Federation of Teachers says it's signed an agreement with the college to prevent job losses.

Downtown Kalamazoo festival noise debated

A city task force heard Monday from those in favor of limiting hours for downtown music events and those who oppose the idea.
Siegel said many bands bring their own sound mixers, and those mixers want the sound to be 105 to 110 decibels at the sound board, which sits about 60 feet from the stage. Siegel said it's up to the band to regulate volume, and the only way to regulate volume is through a decibel reading.

WMU gets "Green Award" for public institutions

KALAMAZOO - For more than three decades, Western Michigan University has been one of the greenest-minded academic institutions in the U.S. Home to the nation's first college revolving fund for financing energy-saving initiatives, WMU was among the first universities to abandon coal as a fuel source.

Eco-friendly safe ride service planned in Kalamazoo

A small fleet of environment-friendly cars could be getting people in Kalamazoo who’ve had too much to drink home safely beginning in the spring of 2014. At least that’s the hope of a local organization called Green Earth Michigan. CEO Dan Doehrman says the new effort is called “Project Green Drive".
