Get ready for Comet PANSTARRS

Kalamazoo Valley Museum Planetarium Coordinator Eric Schreur says a good place to look on March 12th is just to the left of the crescent moon. A pair of binoculars will help.
After spending a few months in the skies of Earth's southern hemisphere, the comet will be visible in the northern hemisphere around dusk, low in the western sky, starting tonight through March 13, according to comet experts. Comet-watchers will need clear skies to see the celestial body, experts say.

Kalamazoo digital billboard meetings open to public

Kalamazoo City officials expect to hold a public hearing in early June to get comments on any proposed changes in billboard rules.
KALAMAZOO, MI -- A committee of stakeholders tasked to look at digital billboards in Kalamazoo has started to meet, and has made its meetings open to the public. The Kalamazoo City Commission issued a moratorium on new digital billboards in January, which involves a six-month stop on processing any permits for "internally illuminated off-premises signs" more than 200 square feet.

Shortly after a large meteorite exploded over Russia last month, some people started thinking about a much larger event millions of years ago. Scientists believe that a massive meteorite impact probably doomed the dinosaurs to extinction. That makes many wonder if we could be next.
