KALAMAZOO, MI -- A four-point play pulled Siena Heights within three points midway through the first half, but that's where the drama ended Thursday at University Arena. The Saints' Jamison Webster made a 3-pointer and the free throw after being fouled with 10:46 remaining in the first half, but Western Michigan closed the first half on a 34-10 run to cruise to an 83-47 win in its final non-conference tune-up.

Kalamazoo-based CeeTox acquired by UK firm

Contract research organization CeeTox Inc. of Kalamazoo was acquired by Apredica LLC, the U.S.-based subsidiary of the U.K. firm Cyprotex PLC, for 630,000 pounds – about $1 million – plus a consideration of 5 percent based on net sales in the next four years, according to a statement.

WMU will preserve core of East Hall, both wings will be demolished

KALAMAZOO, MI - Both wings of East Hall will be knocked down before the renovation of the historic building goes forward this spring, Western Michigan University announced Thursday. The core of the university's birthplace, which was built in 1905 atop Prospect Hill, will undergo a renovation and become an Alumni Center.
