Battle Creek area schools closed again on Wednesday

Decisions about Wednesday night athletic events will be made midday Wednesday
The Christmas holiday vacation, now called a snow emergency, continues today for Battle Creek area school students. All area schools announced Tuesday afternoon they would close again Wednesday for the third day this week. Some city streets and county roads still were clogged with snow, making school bus travel difficult.

Kalamazoo Public Schools closed again Wednesday

KALAMAZOO, MI -- For the third day in a row, Kalamazoo Public Schools and Mattawan Consolidated School have canceled classes because of extreme cold and icy, snow-covered roads. Kalamazoo schools will be closed Wednesday, although staff on a 12-month contract should report to work, KPS spokesman Alex Lee said.

Battle Creek digs out from winter storm

Battle Creek police were trading handcuffs Monday for tow straps and most residents stopped whatever they were doing to pick up snow shovels. Bitter cold Monday followed more than a foot of snow Sunday in the Battle Creek area, closing schools, government offices and some businesses.
