Fiat reaches deal to buy remaining shares of Chrysler

On the first day of 2014, Fiat, Chrysler and the UAW's Retiree Medical Benefits Trust agreed to a $4.35-billion deal that gives Fiat total ownership of its U.S. partner. It resolves a bitter legal dispute over the value of Chrysler's shares and will give the embattled Italian automaker access to Chrysler's cash.

Crime down, but police work on regaining public trust

Calhoun County law enforcement officers start the new year fighting crime and fighting a negative image. Crime fighting went well in 2013 as most officials expect final year-end figures to show that most crime was down. Calhoun County recorded only one homicide this year, a number well below what anyone can remember for decades.

DNR says wolf hunt a success

Study will determine if there is a hunt again next year
Michigan's historic first wolf hunt ended Tuesday with a little more than half of the allowed wolves killed. Between Nov. 16 and Dec. 31, 23 wolves were killed in three sections of the Upper Peninsula. There were 1,200 wolf licenses issued by the state for the 45-day hunt.
