Battle Creek Issuing Tickets for Snow Covered Sidewalks

Online data shows number of tickets issued since the beginning of the year is up sharply from the same period of 2013
The city of Battle Creek has issued 260 tickets since the beginning of this year to residents and property owners for unshoveled sidewalks. During a tough winter with large amounts of snowfall and frigid temperatures, code enforcement officials have been handing citations to those who aren't abiding by a city ordinance that requires them to clear public sidewalks next to their property of fallen or drifted snow.

RICHLAND, MI - While results are still unofficial, it appears voters in the Gull Lake school district have rejected a millage proposa l for facility upgrade by a narrow five-vote margin. The proposed 0.65-mill tax increase was defeated with just over 50 percent of voters, by an unofficial tally of 1,029 to 1,024.
