Rebecca Thiele became the Arts & More producer for WMUK in 2011. Rebecca also assists the station with social media practices and occasionally anchors during All Things Considered. She is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

Flood Watch for Cass, Berrien, St. Joseph Counties Thursday

Due to melting snow, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for these counties.
The combination of rising temperatures, rainfall and a deeply frozen ground may lead to flooding in Southwest Michigan Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties for Thursday. NWS is predicting between a half inch and an inch of rainfall.

State to End Exclusive Contract with Education Achievement Authority

The achievement authority, founded three years ago, oversees failing schools in the state that don’t seem to be improving.
State Superintendent Mike Flanagan has notified the Education Achievement Authority - the controversial system for the worst-performing schools in the state - that he will terminate an exclusive contract the authority has with the Michigan Department of Education. The termination will be effective Feb. 18, 2015.

Sixty Percent of Michiganders Support Raising Minimum Wage

Labor and civil rights groups are gathering signatures to raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour.
LANSING, MI -- Republican Gov. Rick Snyder and U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land lead their likely general election opponents in a new statewide poll, but a minimum wage hike proposal supported by top Democrats also fared well.
