Van Buren County to receive grant for government efficiency

According to a news release by state representative Aric Nesbitt, the grant will help the county share technology and tax assessment information.
PAW PAW, MI -- Van Buren County will receive a state grant that will make it easier to share technology services and tax assessment information, according to a news release from State Rep. Aric Nesbitt. The Michigan Department of Treasury is giving the county $314,629 from the Competitive Grant Assistance Program, one of 17 state grants from the program totaling $6 million, Nesbitt said.

Group says state wolf hunt data skewed

Members of Keep Michigan Wolves Protected say data used to promote wolf hunting in state are all from one single farm.
Opponents of Michigan's upcoming wolf hunt say data used to justify the program are skewed by events at one cattle farm in Ontonagon County. In November, as many as 1,200 hunters will take to three designated areas in the Upper Peninsula for the first sanctioned wolf hunt in roughly half a century.

This year’s ArtPrize is in full swing in downtown Grand Rapids. At the Western Michigan University Conference Center in Grand Rapids, a piece called “Didactic Revolvers” hangs in a room with an installation made out of plastic bags, what looks like a rotating broken canoe, and a huge uprooted tree.
