Charter schools grow in Michigan

Sara McClendon wasn't satisfied with her daughter's public school, and she never expected to enroll her at a charter school. But when Kylie McClendon enters third grade in September, she'll be starting classes at Success Mile Charter Academy, a new school that's opening at a former Target store in Warren.

Mime to minister at Gospel in the Park

Every year, Kalamazoo hosts Gospel in the Park as part of the Black Arts Festival. On Sunday, Bronson Park will be filled with gospel choirs, dancers, guest ministers, and a mime. That’s right—a mime. Progressive churches are using something called Mime Ministry, where silent gesturers act out the words in a gospel song.

Judge freezes lawsuits in Detroit bankruptcy case

Detroit- A bankruptcy judge has overruled objections to the city's bankruptcy filing, freezing several lawsuits filed against Detroit and will allow the bankruptcy case to proceed in federal court. Viking horse breed in Marshall turns heads

The Norwegian Fjord Horse is roughly 5,000 years old. Fjord horse bones have even been found at Viking burial sites. There are only about 20 Fjord herds in Michigan and Nottawa Crossing Fjords in Marshall has one of the largest herds. Anne Crandalll raises them with her mother Bernadine Karns.
