Snyder wants Michigan to do more business with Isreal

Snyder will go on a nine day investment mission to Israel with other state officials and business leaders.
LANSING - Gov. Rick Snyder leaves today for a nine-day trade mission to Israel, which he expects will lead to more jobs for Michigan. Snyder has made four earlier trade missions to Asia, Europe and Canada. This will be his first trip to Israel as governor.

Michigan U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers will not run for U.S. Senate

U.S. Representative Mike Rogers announced today that he won’t try for U.S. Senator Carl Levin’s empty spot.
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) announced Friday that he will not run for Senate next year, a recruiting setback for Republicans hoping to compete in a purple state with an open seat. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said he believes he can accomplish more in the House, with his committee perch and his party in the majority.

Barber chairs and falcons: Hidden Kalamazoo tours the bank building

Update: The 2014 tour will take place June 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

In downtown Kalamazoo, you can walk into one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city—the American National Bank Building. Anyone can view the first few floors, but to get all the way up to the top you’ll have to go on the Hidden Kalamazoo tour this weekend.

Watch blacksmiths mold metal at the 'Hammer-In'

This weekend Michigan blacksmiths will do demonstrations at the first West Michigan “Hammer-In.” In other parts of the state, hammer-ins are held almost every week. This event will be in South Haven at the Michigan Flywheelers Museum where Ted Guimond is blacksmith.

Boogie Woogie Kid keeps uniquely American music alive

Matthew Ball, also known as The Motor City Boogie Woogie Kid, will play Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. Boogie-woogie is a type of blues that came out in the U.S. during the early 20th century.
