Battle Creek Reinvestigates Police Incident

WMUK

The City of Battle Creek says it’s investigating whether a police officer used excessive force when arresting an assault suspect more than a year ago.

A previous inquiry into the October 2012 incident had cleared patrol officer Christopher Hug of wrongdoing. But city officials say they recently discovered that some key information from the case never made it to the county prosecutor’s office. That includes surveillance tape that shows Hug apparently beating suspect Kenneth Moye.

Two officers who were on the scene that day had reported that Hug had acted with undue severity when arresting Moye.
