Congressman Kerry Bentivolio will file as a write-in candidate for the November election after losing in the August primary.
Bentivolio is in his first term representing the 11th district, which includes suburbs north and west of Detroit. He lost the Republican primary to businessman David Trott in August. Bentivolio tells the Detroit News that he isn't trying to derail Trott's bid for Congress with his write-in campaign. The Congressman says he is trying to motivate discouraged Republicans in his district to turn out and vote for U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land.
