Brass Celebration Of Christmas Set For Sunday

The Western Brass Quintet welcomed a new member this fall. Robert White, a former student of Western's trumpet professor Scott Thornburg, went on to earn a doctorate from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He returned to campus as a faculty member in September.

Dr. White and his former teacher, Scott Thornburg, talk with Cara Lieurance about A Brass Celebration of Christmas, a School of Music tradition at Western Michigan University. Bob also remembers how he decided to apply to Western Michigan University as an undergraduate. He says hearing bootleg tapes of the Western Brass Quintet was a major factor.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
