claremonttrio.com

The Claremont Trio brings its award-winning combination of violin, cello and piano to the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck this week, opening the festival's 30th season of summer chamber concerts at the Woman's Club of Saugatuck. Cara Lieurance spoke with cellist Julia Bruskin, who founded the trio with her sister Emily Bruskin in 1999.

Bruskin recalls performing at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, not long after winning the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio Award in 2003. Today, the members of the trio fit in recording, performing, and teaching from their home base of New York City. Their Saugatuck program willf feature music of two women - 19th century composer Fanny Mendelssohn and contemporary composer Gabriela Lena Frank - and Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio.

The Claremont Trio performs Thursday and Friday at 7:30 pm at the Woman's Club of Saugatuck. For more information, visit the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck's website.
