Democrats continue to call for the state to end its contract with the company providing food service in Michigan prisons.
The Department of Corrections has said it was reviewing the contract with Aramark after several incidents involving food safety and the conducts of workers in prisons. That review was supposed to end yesterday. The Gongwer News Service reports that a Corrections Department spokesman says a decision would come within a matter days, or perhaps a week.
The contract for prison food service was approved last year to save money.
