EPA Holds Meeting on River Cleanup

Environmental Protection Agency

The Environmental Protection Agency says it wants to hear from the public on plans to clean PCBs out of the Kalamazoo River. It’s holding a public meeting tonight at 6 at the Kalamazoo Nature Center.

The EPA’s default plan would remove PCBs between Morrow Dam and the city of Plainwell, as well as part of Portage Creek. But it would clean up only the most contaminated areas.

The work would take at least two years and cost up to 23 million dollars.
