A Folk Tune Adieu For Saugatuck Chamber Fest Season-Closer

Chamber Music Festival Of Saugatuck

Violinist Eric Tanner of the Perugino Quartetestimates he's been performing at the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck for around 17 of its 29 years.  In the final concert of the season, his quartet will be doubled by additional players to perform the String Octet In F major Op 17, by Niels Gade. It's an exciting find for musicians who relish string octets.

The concert will also feature a newly commissioned work by Matthew Browne, and Dvořák’sPiano Trio No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 90, known as the "Dumky" trio. Tanner says the Dvorak and Gade works have an abundance of folk themes integrated into the music.
