Gov. Snyder to fill Supreme Court vacancy

WMUK

Governor Rick Snyder is asking for advice as he fills a vacancy on Michigan’s Supreme Court.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Snyder plans to consult with current justices and his own staff as he looks for someone to replace former justice Diane Hathaway. She retired earlier this month after the state Judicial Tenure Commission announced that it was investigating misconduct charges against her. Last week she faced federal allegations of bank fraud.

Hathaway is a Democrat but the Free Press says Snyder is widely expected to pick a fellow Republican to replace her.
