Gov. Snyder Gets KCC Degree

Kellogg Community College

Governor Rick Snyder was back in Battle Creek Monday to get a degree from Kellogg Community College.

Snyder, who's from Battle Creek originally, attended the college in the 1970's before moving on to the University of Michigan. Snyder used today's stop to promote dual- enrollment programs that allow high school students to take college- level courses. He took advantage of the program while he was still a student at Lakeview High School. Snyder applied for a Associate of Arts degree from KCC under a "reverse transfer" program that lets students use credits earned at four-year schools get two-year diplomas from community colleges.

Snyder is in a tight re-election race with Democrat Mark Schauer, who represented Battle Creek in the state legislature and in Congress.
