Mark Sahlgren, the co-host of WMUK's acoustic music show Grassroots, will receive a Community Medal of Arts Award from the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo.

According to the Arts Council, the award is given to "an artist who is a leader in their field, has a significant body of creative activity, who has received local and/or national acclaim, and has impacted our community through art."

In addition to hosting Grassroots for 36 years, Sahlgren is also an accomplished musician and a leading advocate of acoustic music in Southwest Michigan.

The awards ceremony for Sahlgren and other community arts award winners will take place on July 13th at 4:30 p.m. in Bronson Park during the Sundays in the Park concert series.
