Jazz Currents: Kristin Slipp And Dov Manski

Vocalist Kristin Slipp and pianist Dov Manski are a Brooklyn-based duo who each have strong reputations as improvisers, composers, and collaborators. Their album A Thousand Julys, released in 2013, features creatively re-imagined versions of jazz standards that alter the phrasing, time signatures, harmonies, and instrumentation of songs such as "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "The Way You Look Tonight."

Slipp and Manski, who both studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston, joined Jazz Currents host Keith Hall in WMUK's Takeda Performance Studio before a performance at the Kalamazoo Piano Company.

Before coming to WMUK in 2003, Martin worked in Los Angeles making records with some outstanding producers, but preferred to be close to his family here in west Michigan. He enjoys keeping a busy schedule balancing WMUK, loving on his friends' doggos, and remodeling his home in the Edison neighborhood (which never seems to end)
