Unemployment rates for both the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek labor markets have dropped more than two percentage points in March compared to a year ago.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says the jobless rate in the Kalamazoo labor market was 4.9% last month, compared to a rate of 7.2% in Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties at this time last year. Unemployment in the Battle Creek labor market stood at 5.2% percent in March. It was 7.3% percent in Calhoun County in March of 2014.
