Kalamazoo County Sets Launch Date for Local IDs

Clerk/Register's Office, Kalamazoo County

Kalamazoo County's local ID task force says residents can apply for the card starting May 3. The identification program is intended to help people who cannot get a state ID.

Any Kalamazoo County resident can apply. The county does not ask for a person's immigration status. The cards cost $10 but the county says it can waive the fee for those who can't afford it.

In Michigan, Washtenaw County and the City of Detroit also have local IDs.
