Jenna Mammina and Rolf Sturm have stories to tell and songs to sing, and they bring a fine selection of both to Let's Hear It, in a Takeda studio session with Jazz Currents host Keith Hall.
Mammina is a Michigan native whose vocal talent and songwriting skills served to take the well-traveled artist to live in San Francisco and New York, and to tour overseas. She came to appreciate the advanced guitar work of Rolf Sturm in 1995, when they were both employed by "Illuminati," a rock orchestra specializing in the music of the Grateful Dead.
Sturm and Mammina offer live takes of standards and originals, and even improvise a song based on a series of words suggested by host Keith Hall. Their new album, Spark, was released by Water Street Music last year and is available on iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.
