Loreena McKennitt Marks 25th Anniversary of Landmark Album at State Theatre

Ann E. Cutting

An ethereal singer, multi-instrumentalist and authority on ancient Celtic traditions, Loreena McKennitt begins a 25-city tour in Michigan this month, appearing at the Kalamazoo State Theatre on Thursday, October 13.

McKennitt says she holds distinct imagery from different places in her mind as she works on her songs, describing the result as "musical travel writing."  This tour marks the 25th anniversary of the release of The Visit, the Loreena McKennitt album that reached a global audience in 1991. The Visit has been reissued on vinyl by McKennitt's own label.

Loreena McKennitt will perform with longtime collaborators Caroline Lavelle and Brian Hughes on Oct 13. Details are at the Kalamazoo State Theatre website.
