Louis Schwizgebel To Perform Program of Classics for The Gilmore

Marco Borrgreve

Swiss pianist Louis Schwizgebel is looking forward to his debut concert in Kalamazoo for The Gilmore Rising Stars Series. Although the majority of his performance activity lies in Europe, he's also studied in the United States at The Juilliard School in New York, and has high praise for his teacher, Emanuel Ax.

Mr. Schwigebel talks to Cara Lieurance about his program of works by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt. He also recalls a particularly exciting performance at the BBC proms in August as a BBC New Generation Artist. Mr. Schwizgebel discusses his collaboration with conductor Thierry Fisher, with whom he's recorded soon-to-be-released piano concertos of Beethoven.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
