McCann Seeks State Senate Recount

WMUK

The Democrat who narrowly lost earlier this month in the State Senate district that covers Kalamazoo County says he wants a recount.

The County Board of Canvassers says State Representative Sean McCann lost to Republican Representative Margaret O'Brien in the 20th Senate District by only 59 votes in a three-way race that included Libertarian candidate Lorence Wenke. McCann says his supporters have urged him to seek a recount because of the extremely narrow margin. McCann's campaign also says it wants ballots counted again because of what it calls "troubling issues" involving problems reported by some voters at the polls.

McCann says he'll turn in the request for a recount shortly after the State Board of Canvassers meets on Monday.
