Meet Susie Park, The New KSO Concertmaster

kalamazoosymphony.org

In November, Australian native Susie Park debutedin her new role as concertmaster of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. It's a new musical avenue for a violinist who regularly appears as a soloist with orchestra, who also established her chamber music credentials in the Eroica Trio from 2006-2012, and helped found ECCO, the East Coast Chamber Orchestra.

Susie Park says her years of participating in music competitions, including top prizes at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and the Wieniawski Competition, helped her prepare for the demands of being a professional musician. One of the most momentous changes of her life was moving from Sydney, Australia to Philadelphia, PA to attend the Curtis Institute at age seventeen.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
