Laura Chang’s journey to becoming Michigan’s next Teacher Of The Year began in Vicksburg. She did her teaching internship at Sunset Lake Elementary 18 years ago. Since then, she’s been an instructional consultant, developed literacy programs and taught graduate level college courses.
Chang was named Teacher of the Year in May. She’ll chair the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council, a new 10 member group created to help the state reach its educational goals.
Kevin Lavery of WKAR in East Lansing visited Chang’s classroom to see how she reaches students.
