Michigan Business Leaders Urge Ban on Gay Discrimination

WMUK

A group of Michigan business leaders says the state should ban job discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The Gongwer News Service says Business Leaders for Michigan announced the proposal Thursday. It wants protections for gay and lesbian job seekers added to the state's Elliott- Larsen Civil Rights Act. It prohibits discrimination because of race, religion, gender, national origin, or disability. The group says extending protections for sexual orientation would help improve Michigan's business climate.

Gongwer says the BLM proposal also calls for long-term investment in transportation and finding ways to make higher education more affordable.
