Michigan House Considers Primary Date

(MPRN-Lansing) - The state House is supposed to vote before the end of the week on legislation to hold Michigan’s Republican presidential primary in March of next year.

Republicans are still trying to decide which date will give Michigan the most influence in choosing the Republican nominee while still complying with national party rules. House Elections Committee Chairwoman Lisa Lyons says that’s tough to gauge.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty in what other states are doing, aren’t going to do, may do.”

A March 15th date could put Michigan into a Midwest regional primary designed to lure candidates with the prospect of a big delegate haul.
