Moody's Report Says Lower Credit Ratings for Schools May be "New Normal"

A Wall Street rating agency report is raising questions about the fiscal outlook for many Michigan school districts.

TheGongwerNews Service says the Moody’s Investors Service report focuses on the Holland School District. Moody’s finds that a decline in student enrollment is similar to many other districts in the state. The agency has downgraded the credit ratings of 44 Michigan school districts this year, following a number of downgrades over the last several years. One credit analyst says lower credit ratings for schools across Michigan may be in his words “the new normal.”
