A new poll finds a tight race for Governor of Michigan.
The survey by Public Policy Polling finds Republican Rick Snyder with 43%, compared to 42% for former Congressman and state lawmaker Mark Schauer. Several recent polls have shown a close race for governor.
PPP also finds Democrat Gary Peters has matched his largest lead of the campaign for U.S. Senate. He has 43% of the vote, compared to 36% for the Republican candidate, former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land.
On the Gongwer Blog, Editor Zach Gorchow notes this poll included the third party candidates for both races. He says the numbers for those candidates in this survey seems high compared to past elections. Gorchow says it could slightly skew the results of this one snapshot of public opinion.
