Next Community Conversation Wednesday in Battle Creek

WMUK

The next community forum being hosted by Project 20 20 in Battle Creek is scheduled for Wednesday.

The project is aimed at improving quality of life in the Battle Creek area.  Wednesday's meeting is being held at the Burnham Brook Center from 6:30 until 8:00p.m. (More details here) Project 20 20 Project Manager Amanda Lankerd says previous community meetings have focused on specific topics. But she this week's meeting is a more broad discussion, and will allow people to share their ideas and aspirations for Battle Creek.

Interview with Amanda Lankerd and Laura Otte - air version

Laura Otte The Community Engagement Manager of the United Way for the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region says ultimately the conversations will be used to figure out which issues are most important to the community as a whole.

Lankerd says even if one issue is identified, it's usually connected to many other issues. Otte says people have a healthy skepticism of efforts focused on one particular issue.

Earlier this year Southwest Michigan's Second Wave reported on Battle Creek being named a Beacon Community.
