The First United Methodist Church offers a musical Advent series on Thursdays at noon in December. This Thursday, the series will feature a performance of the remarkable Mass In Blue by Will Todd, a setting of the Latin mass for soloist, choir, and jazz combo. Robert Jordan will lead the Portage Northern High School Songleaders Chorale in the performance, and has invited soprano Katelin Spencer to return to Kalamazoo from Berlin as soloist. In an interview with Cara Lieurance, Jordan talks about taking on this ambitious piece with his friend Spencer, the Songleaders Chorale, and a trusted group of jazz players.
