Abby Nobel says she wants to roll back state regulations on health care and schools. The Republican is running for state House in the 80th district, which includes the most of Allegan County.
Nobel says she worked for years as a nurse at area hospitals. But after the Affordable Care Act became law, she decided to get a master’s degree from Hillsdale College.
Mary Whiteford is the incumbent in the 80th state House district. She won a special election in March after Cindy Gamrat was expelled after a sex and cover up scandal. Nobel is critical of Whiteford’s vote to help the Detroit Public Schools afford bankruptcy. Nobel says if the Detroit School District had gone through bankruptcy it would have given the school system a chance to start “from the ground up.”
Nobel says the voters in Allegan County are very conservative and she says it should have conservative representation. Nobel says Whiteford isn’t conservative enough for the 80th district.
