The Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck comes to a close this week with two works that qualify for a Chamber Music 101 class: Shostakovich's devastating Piano Trio No. 2, and Schubert's uplifting Quintet for Strings in C.
Cellist Alicia Eppinga, principal cellist of the Grand Rapids Symphony, talks about the intricacies of the music, and about her fellow musicians in the festival. She also discusses this time of transition for the Grand Rapids Symphony, which is in the process of auditioning for a new conductor.
